Dear Teachers,

It has been around a month since the last Sparks lesson. I hope that those of you on vacation are finding it to be a restful, restorative one. You worked hard this year!I'm emailing to tell you that I have compiled the first full year of Sparks lessons into a downloadable book. These Sparks were originally mailed out between the fall of 2005 and the spring of 2006 and include lessons on limericks, writing dialogue, persuasive letters and many quirky narratives. In this book you'll find prompts involving a number of historical, creative people: C.S. Lewis, Norman Rockwell, Aaron Copland, Harry Houdini, and others. This was a fun, fun year of lessons! The digital book is the perfect form for using with your class. Not only are my sparkpics included and ready to be printed off your computer, all the related pages on my site are only a click away. Read more about the book and how to purchase here.

There's a link to two sample pages so that you can see how I've organized the lessons. For those of you who want the collection of this past year of Sparks, you'll have to wait a bit longer. Summer is the time for me to catch up on all the creative projects I can't get to during the busy school visiting season, so I'm moving onto doing some creative writing of my own before coming back to work on Sparks again.I hope you'll consider purchasing my book. The sales of these downloadable files will determine whether I can keep committing so much time and effort to giving away free lessons.Have a great summer, and hopefully, I'll be resuming the free lessons in the fall!

Creatively yours,
Bruce Van Patter
