Part 2 of the Canadian Health System

Only 4% of American have to wait more than six months for non-elective surgeries, while 14-15% of Canadian and Britons do.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to wait more than six months for a surgery I needed. I actually only had a few days wait time for my surgery. In fact I was asked when I wanted to have it. I choose to wait until after the holidays. When I called to set up the appointment I was given a day only a few days different then the day I asked for.

You can read the post here.

I get A-level care now, it's unfair to expect me to settle for anything less. I really don't think a system that provides substandard care for everyone is an improvement on a system that is capable of providing A-level care. Maybe the concept of universal health care needs to be shelved until we can deliver A-lever care to all, instead of expecting some of us to settle for substandard care when we have been getting A-level care.

One of the things I would like to see is some sort of universal pet care, so that everyone could provide the veterinarian care their pets need. At a minimum free/low cost spay/neuter programs would be a huge help in cutting down on unwanted kittens and puppies. But if we could also make sure that all pets could get the vaccinations and health care they need wouldn't it be nice. Now at least you can buy pet insurance; but so far I haven't found any pet insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. Because Charybdis' heart problem is considered a birth defect it wouldn't be covered. I am hoping it doesn't cause her any problems. She seems to be doing OK and the only advice the veterinarian school could give was to keep and eye on it as they didn't know what it was or how to fix it.

Does anyone know if Canada/any country for that matter has any sort of universal pet care?

This is a prime example of why I DO NOT WANT UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. They own one house on the Florida mainland. We also own another teeny house in the same county. It was our primary residence for years. It's on a boat-only island. We are also permanent...

- Why Universal Health Care Is A Bad Deal
Bush administration officials again have saddled Congress with an under funded military health care budget by projecting $1.2 billion in savings they know will not be realized, say critics on Capitol Hill. Does anyone really believe that the government...

- Health Care In Canada
Canada's care plan only covers the basics. You're still on your own for any extras, including prescription drugs. And you still have to pay for it. True -- but not as big an issue as you might think. The province does charge a small monthly premium...

- Why Socialized Healthcare Is A Very Bad Idea
SONIA BENNETT MURRAY explains why National Health Care isn't the answer in her letter to the editor. For those who think National Health is a panacea for our ills - it is not! When anything is "free" it goes downhill, overused and understaffed. With...
