The Start of a Garage....


Apparently today was a good day for building a garage. By noon, one wall was up .....
It sure looks messy at this point! Temporary steps to the loft have been added to facilitate building the second story. That will start next week (if this coming snow storm doesn't play havoc).
That little triangle area in the center of this picture, with no beams above it will be a small triangular bathroom....what else would you do with a spare triangle?

Yesterday's snow was mostly mixed with rain and so we had no accumulation....just slop. This morning, though, it has started to snow again.....and here is what it looks like from our upstairs loft library...I think I will stay in the loft (that is...

- Finishing Touches
Although we are not quite finished with construction, I am working on a few of the finishing touches that will be added to the house when complete. Jack had suggested that we have signs on the outside of the garage directing guests to the proper door....

- Update
Here is the start of our front porch. Tongue and groove decking will be placed on top of all the beams....visible from beneath. On top of the tongue and groove will be roofing that will match the rest of the house. I just love the web design of the front...

- Every Day.... A Little Progress
The roof trusses are up! You may notice a gap between the roofline of the garage and the roofline of the house. That are will be framed in and the roofs will meet at an angle. The garage is at a 45 degree angle to the house. This is the view out...

"Snug as a bug in a rug"....that is how I would describe life in our little A-frame. We have all the essentials in a very tiny space. I thought I would give you a little tour of our living quarters for the next year while our log home is being built....
