Broody Chicken

Everyonce in a while, one of our chickens becomes broody. That is, she decides to lay on the eggs in her box and not get off of them. Now that we have a rooster, there is a good chance that if left alone, she will hatch out a few of these eggs into chicks. So we have decided to allow this little lady the satisfaction of doing just that. She has been setting on her nest now for several days. We are keeping our fingers crossed that she is successful. We'll let you know. It takes about 3 weeks for chicken eggs to hatch.

- The Business Of Eggs....
Now that Spring has arrived, not only are the chickens laying regularly, but now the ducks have begun egg production. What to do with all these eggs? We could eat them all, but our cholesterol levels might suffer. We give away dozens to friends and neighbors,...
