Construction Update


What a busy week it has been. Our little A-frame guesthouse (and temporary living quarters) is almost finished. The log siding and window trim are done. Hunter green fascia and stone around the foundation are all that are left to be done.
The stone masons have just about finished the stone on our foundation. The floor joists for the front deck are finished and the guys are starting to build the front porch roof. The house will look so different once that is in place.

Work continues on the decks around our log home. Our contractor promises that we will be totally finished by the end of September. That completion date is hard to believe; with soffit, fascia, gutters, decks, screen porch and final grading still to be...

We are almost totally settled into the interior of our our log home. However, the exterior work continues with the building of decks and screen porch. I thought I would share a few more construction pictures with you.... Here are the decks and porch that...

The cupola has found its place on top of the garage roof. The walnut floors are stained and ready to finish. I love the warmth of walnut...and I love the mix of heartwood (brown) and sapwood (white). This picture was taken looking down on the powder room...

Our construction crew has been busy putting the finishing touches to the inside of our house. They are working hard to get us ready to move in...with an emphasis on the inside of the house for now. Once we can inhabit the inside, they will move outside...

- Every Day.... A Little Progress
The roof trusses are up! You may notice a gap between the roofline of the garage and the roofline of the house. That are will be framed in and the roofs will meet at an angle. The garage is at a 45 degree angle to the house. This is the view out...
