I made Grilled Salmon topped with Mornay Sauce the other night for supper. We also had an Asparagus Casserole. Hubby and Lord Epa didn't care for the Mornay Sauce, but Socks, Charybdis and Scylla pronounced it meowlicious. The Asparagus Casserole was a hit with everyone. I substituted mushrooms for the pimentos.
Mornay Sauce
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 teaspoons all purpose flour
Dash pepper
Dash cayenne pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese
Melt butter in a small saucepan, stir in flour, pepper, and cayenne pepper until blended. Gradually add milk and whipping cream, bring to a boil and cook 1-2 minutes until thickened (stirring constantly). Remove from heat and add the Swiss cheese.
If you haven't already guessed one of my favourite foods is cheese.
