In Memorium

It is with great sadness that we must report the following:

Beulah May Duck was laid to rest last week.
She died as a result of a "hit and run" incident
as she made her way on her daily jaunt to the creek down the road.
(The perp...guilty of fowl play... remains at large.)

She is survived by her sister...
Edith Duck

and her constant companion, Mr. Wellington.

She will be missed by all residents of the Duck Pond.

She was a member of the Muscovy-Cross Duck Association,
the Bee Haven Acres Duckpond Ladies Auxiliary,
Ducks Unlimited, The Daffy Gaffers (a comedic a-capella group),
and Mothers Against Drunk Ducks.

Her hobbies included nesting and preening.
Sadly, she did not live long enough to hatch out her own clutch of eggs.
She had hoped to have a large family this coming spring.

Beulah May Duck started her life in the beautiful Black Dog Valley,
where she lived on a lovely pond-less homestead.

She was initially raised to be Duck-a -L'Orange,
but was granted a pardon and brought to Bee Haven Acres to peacefully live out her life.

Even with a wealth of warning signs along the road,

and precious little daily traffic,
she succumbed to the carelessness of a speeding motorist.
It's sad... we do everything in our power to keep our precious critters safe....
and yet...
things happen beyond our control.

We will miss you, Beulah May.
You were a good duck.

- Springtime Delicacies

- Goodbye Methuselah
Yesterday morning when I stopped by the pond to feed the ducks,I did my usual head count.Twelve ducks were paddling around in their little circular pool of water...kept from freezing by an aerator. For seven or eight years, that head count has included...

- For The Love Of Salt
Every afternoon, a trip to the pond results in this find... four lovely duck eggs. We have come to love our duck eggs...available only in the spring. Our ducks are trying hard to increase their numbers, and daily I am thwarting their efforts. Our...

- Feeling Just Ducky
Is this a face that only a mother could love? Did my ducks mingle with a turkey?? Actually this duck is a Muscovy duck. He is one of three that were given to us by a friend. I should say he is one of three remaining Muscovies....a few perished at the...

- New Ducks On Their Way!!
Our poor flock of Campbell ducks has slowly dwindled down to just one lone duck. We have named her Methusela because she has lived the longest. I worry that she is lonely. We feed her daily and she spends her days happily swimming on the pond...often...
