Life In The Gonad-Free Zone

It's late afternoon.

The afternoon feeding is done and the sun is setting in the west...

sending its last rays upward from the horizon like searchlights.

It's been a little over a week since the fainting goat bucks were castrated,
and I am happy to report that everyone is healing nicely.

Their days are relatively quiet and uneventful...
that is, until feeding time.

Now, for these testosterone-free fellows, feeding time is the highlight of each day.
Blubbering behavior that used to be part of the mating ritual

is now used to move each other onward to another bowl.

They each take their turn blubbering to the next goat,
as they chase him from his dinner.

Onward he goes to the next goat and, blubbering, chases him onward as well.

It's like a blubbering game of dinner tag,
or perhaps a very slow dinner relay.

It's quite amusing.
Even Becky's horse, Sid, is entertained by this display.

Happy Friday, friends!
I am excited for this weekend as we are having a bonfire and pizza party in the pavilion.
Family and friends will join us for this autumn celebration.
Even Tyler will be here.

(I made 23 personal pizza crusts and Amanda made sweet potato pizza crust
with our purple sweet potatoes...
purple crust!)
I will share pictures on Monday (and save some pizza for you, too!)

Hope you have the best weekend!!
