Unclear if tribal council supports Martins plans to build a casino on the coast
Martin pledged to withdraw plans to build a Coast casino if Jackson County voters turn it down in a non-binding referendum in November's election, but it isn't clear if the tribal council supports that agreement.
Ron Alex, who lives on the Choctaw reservation, said Martin's letter makes it sound like the chief is ready to build the casino without anybody voting on it. "He's running scared.
