Update on Pit Bull Story
I can't help but wonder if the child was even alive when she was mauled by the dog. Nobody saw the "attack" and she was found in a ditch. Have they even considered the possibility that the child died of something other then a dog attack? While the autopsy confirmed the child's injuries are consistent with dog bites did they check to see if there were any blows to the head? Did they consider the possibility she could have died of exposure?
Meanwhile, as the Sheriff's Department investigation continues, the pit bull believed responsible for killing Anataisa is being held in quarantine until tests reveal whether the animal committed the attack. There were no witnesses to the attack.
A neighbor who found the child's body said the child's throat appeared ripped. The dog apparently got out of a nearby pen.
Apparently the child's family members realized the dog(s) were able to get out of their pen, so why were they letting the five year old child play outside alone and unsupervised? The whole thing seems a tad suspicious to me.
And now Smith wants to ban "dangerous animals" not just Pit Bulls.
We should pass a law banning the possession of dangerous animals because there is no benefit to the welfare and safety of the public," Smith said.
