A Strange Work Crew

This past Saturday was a concentrated work day on the farm.
With the help of a couple of our "kids", we accomplished
a lot of spring tasks....
mulching flower beds with tanbark,
mulching strawberry patch (between the rows).
planting 5 trees,
planting 2 rosebushes,
dragging large logs out of the woods
(to make a cross country eventing course for Becky)
were among the big jobs we finished.

Most of the afternoon was spent at the house,
spreading tanbark.

Of course Tyler was there to help....
Oh my, what a mess!

as were the turkeys....

These crazy birds just seem to love Tyler!

Maddie supervised the work crew and
doubled as babysitter.

The turkeys attracted the guineas, too.

Now, what you might not know is exactly how far
the house is from the turkey pen.
(about a third of a mile)
It is also not a straight line from one to the other,
but quite a round-about path with lots of woods in the middle.
Somehow, the turkeys knew where to find us.

At the end of the day, we had to parade them back to their house, again.
It's all in a typical day here on the farm!

So, I ask you....
is there anything cuter than a filthy little boy???

Needless to say, Tyler was taken in the house
and given his "tubby" when we finished.

How many little ones can say that they spent the day
with a bunch of turkeys?

- Tom And Chuck Take A Hike
It was an absolutely spectacular weekend.Mostly sunny with highs in the mid-forties made for perfectweather for hiking in the woods. And that is just what we did...Saturday and Sunday. Of course we took the dogs. But we had some unexpected company on one...

- Moments From Summer's End
Although the season has yet to change...which is quite evident with the current heat wave in which we seem to be stuck...summer is over. Community pools are closed, school is in session...and around the farm summer's frenzy is slowing down. Apples...

- Chicken Eggies, And Other Wonderful Adventures
It was a splendid weekend with my buddy! We spent some time with the animals... climbed trees... and swam in the pool. Of course the turkeys had to follow us to the pool. We had a picnic in the pavilion.... which was also attended by the turkeys!...

- Working On The "long" List
After what seems like weeks and weeks of weeding, the strawberry patch make-over is almost complete. Just a bit of mulching to be done today...and then I can sit back and wait for the berries. Hubbs was determined to make my strawberry patch as low...

- Herding Turkeys
As if we needed a new task to add to the end of each day....we seem to have acquired one....herding turkeys! We decided over the weekend, that it is time for the turkeys to free range a bit.We have been reluctant to allow them to leave their yardout...
