Autumn Decorating

Brrrrr... it has been in the 40's for the past two mornings' chores.
I'm not complaining, though...
I welcome Autumn with open arms.

I have to say, though, that this weather has put me in the mood for Autumn decorating.
I took a trip to a local farm and came home with a trunk full of pumpkins.

Pumpkins, hay bales, and corn stalks from the garden...

perfect seasonal decor.

Yesterday morning I cleaned the pasture (picked up manure)
while the horses and donkeys were grazing.

One of the differences between the two species, that I have noticed,
is that donkeys are so much more curious than horses.

Most of the time horses act as if they could care less...
unless it involves food or another horse!

Donkeys, on the other hand, will forget about eating if there is something more interesting...
like a gator.
The gator was filled with manure and weeds that I had pulled.

Daphne:"Hmmmmmm....looks tasty!"

Chloe:  "Breakfast!  Thanks for serving us, Mom!"

Me:  "Hey, guys, this is a manure wagon, not a lunch wagon!"

Chloe:  "Oh, but so tasty...
and easier than bending down and eating from the ground!"

It cracks me up how equines use their lips like fingers (see above)...

Needless to say, it sometimes takes me longer to do chores than it should...
but the entertainment is so wonderful!

I have had a lot of questions about aprons, lately.
I do have quite a few for sale....I just have not had time to get them listed.
I have several new 40's style farm aprons,
and this little chicken/egg apron that I just finished...
perfect for serving up a big farm style breakfast!!

- Daphne And Sam Come To An Understanding
Yesterday afternoon the dogs and I spent some time cleaning the front pasture. I love being out in the pasture when the equines are out as well. The combination of dogs and equines usually adds up to some fun.Yesterday was no exception. I had just...

- Donkey Lovin', Nosey Littles, And The Magic Of Digital Photography
Yesterday, being Wednesday, was my day to leave the farm for a few hoursand work with people rather than animals. It's a nice little break...mostly nice because it is so little.(I have our friends and neighbors, Jim and Kathy, to thank...because they...

- Frozen Poopsicles And Portion Control
We've reached that point in the winter when daily chores seem to take forever. While there are less chores to be done, the ones that remain take much longer...complicated by the ice on the ground. Because the equines eat so much more hay in the winter, they...

- The Donkeys Have Their Wooly Bangs Again!
There is absolutely nothing new happening on the farm.Nadda.And that's just how we like it this time of year! We've been hit with a wintry blast of weather.Early morning chores are done in 20+ degrees.Yesterday morning brought a light dusting...

- What Is It?
A question I have pondered for what seems like an eternity..... Just what is itabout a manure pile.... that attracts my dogs? After all, I feed them well. They get an egg each morning for breakfast. And yet, every chance they get, they are...
