Horsing Around

Another wonderful thing about this time of year is
apples.
Our orchard is full of apples...
yummy, juicy, sweet/tart apples.

Not only are they a favorite snack for us,
but also for the horses.

Yesterday I treated the horses to a little game....
bobbing for apples.....

Donnie:  "Hey Moonbeam, if we catch them we can eat them!"

Moonbeam:  "How do we catch them?
 They keep going under water!"

Donnie:  "Accuracy, that's the key."

Moonbeam:  "How about we work together?"

Donnie: "I keep getting water up my nose!"

Moonbeam:  "I give up.  Mom......!!!
This game is stupid!"

"MmmmmMmmmm, thanks, Mom!"

I often get the question..."Which animals take the most time to care for?" The answer to that is easy...no thought necessary. The horses! Cleaning up their manure three times daily...plus cleaning the pastures, feeding (in the winter time, they need lots...

- Together At Last!
I have been hesitant to put the "Bigs" and the "Littles"together in the same pasture to graze...fearing for the safety of my tiny horses. That is until the other day, when I took the Bigs to the upper pasture and heard the cries ofthe Littles as...

- The Sweetest Pony
If you have been reading my blog for the past year, you already have met my pony, Moonbeam. Moonbeam is a Haflinger. He came to me by way of a local Amish breeder. Moonbeam is schooled in driving. He has pulled carriages in competition and has also worked...
