So much to learn

I haven't really done a homeschooling post in awhile. It's not that I don't have plenty to talk about I have tons of things running through my head, it's just finding the time to post it.

The weather has been wonderful here. While many of you are preparing for cold weather, we are still enjoying 85+ weather here. The wildflowers are blooming up a storm and our butterfly garden is still doing well. Many of our classes are being held outdoors, so we can soak up the sunshine along with our lessons.

Our field trip to the Pascagoula River Audubon Center has left me brimming over with ideas. I have long wanted a fountain in the butterfly garden, but there is no 'traditional' power source down there. We are going to experiment with a solar powered fountain. Lord Epa and I will begin working on assembling the fountain next week, weather permitting. We are also going to try to incorporate more native plants into our butterfly garden.

We have also started a new blog Roll on Mississippi, where we will share facts about our state.

In American History we are studying the Revolutionary War, but we also wanted to find out what was happening in Mississippi during that period. Thinkquest has a nice piece on The Old Natchez Road.

Lord Epa is getting ready to take his ACT. Actually we aren't doing much more then our regular lessons to prepare. He is getting use to using a #2 pencil, he prefers mechanical pencils and familiarizing himself with the calculator he will be using.

We are doing lots of additional reading. This is a list of some of the books we are reading.
