"Darwin's Deadly Legacy"

"Darwin's Deadly Legacy" which aired on WDAM-TV Tuesday night is pure fantasy but it managed to stir up plenty of controversy in the Hattiesburg American. According to Gale York,

The main point and a non-scientific reply to the two harsh criticisms published in the Dec. 9 Letters to the Editor is that it's the academics and elite who mainly seem to defend the evolution theory (not a fact), with sparse evidence (no fossil record showing the "missing links" etc.), because it rids them of our Creator and the yielding of one's superior position to our Creator.
Why can't these idiots at least educate themselves on what the scientific definition of theory is.

the·o·ry (thē'ə-rē, thîr'ē) n., pl. -ries.
A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

If you still don't understand the scientific definition of theory let me put it this way. Gravity is just a theory, so go climb on top of a 20 foot building and jump off. Since gravity is just a theory I am sure you will be just fine when you go splat.

Hopefully they will read the well thought out response of Butch Bailey - Show lacked facts, built on falsities

If you feel that you have issues with the scientific theory of evolution, please make sure to educate yourself about the genuine theory and the principles and evidence in support of it, not this disingenuous clergyman's fraudulent, strawman version of it. Blaming Darwin and the theory of evolution for Hitler's holocaust is more than a bit like blaming Louis Pasteur and germ theory for Saddam Hussein's crimes of biological warfare, or blaming Isaac Newton and gravitational theory for a bruised knee after tripping and falling.

Or maybe they will read NBC program was one sided by William E. Wallace

I am insulted with WDAM-TV's grossly irresponsible airing of the program "Darwin's Deadly Legacy" on Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m., as would any educated person who even remotely studied the science of biology. To suggest that Darwin's theory is anything but solid science is an ignorant statement, especially when made by individuals with no biological background. Evolution has withstood the test of the scientific method throughout the centuries, especially the past century.
As for linking Darwin's Theory of Evolution to the Holocaust, Hitler would probably be extremely offended as he considered himself a good Christian.

Through subterfuge and concealment, many of today's Church leaders and faithful Christians have camouflaged the Christianity of Adolf Hitler and have attempted to mark him an atheist, a pagan cult worshipper, or a false Christian. However, from the earliest formation of the Nazi party and throughout the period of conquest and growth, Hitler expressed his Christian support to the German citizenry and soldiers. In the 1920s, Hitler's German Workers' Party (pre Nazi term) adopted a "Programme" with twenty-five points (the Nazi version of a constitution). In point twenty-four, their intent clearly demonstrates, from the very beginning, their stand in favor of a "positive" Christianity:

24. We demand liberty for all religious denominations in the State, so far as they are not a danger to it and do not militate against the morality and moral sense of the German race. The Party, as such, stands for positive Christianity, but does not bind itself in the matter of creed to any particular confession. It combats the Jewish-materialist spirit within and without us, and is convinced that our nation can achieve permanent health from within only on the principle: the common interest before self-interest. Hitler's speeches and proclamations, even more clearly, reveal his faith and feelings toward a Christianized Germany. Nazism presents an embarrassment to Christianity and demonstrates the danger of faith.

Even more troubling for Christians is the Pope's German involvement.

But research into the lightly trod territory of Pius' decades-long German involvement before his papacy left Cornwell in a state of "moral shock," he says. "The material I had gathered amounted not to an exoneration but to an indictment." In the end, Cornwell concluded Pius "was Hitler's pawn."

Does that mean we should blame the Holocaust on Christianity? The answer to any intelligent person is that Christianity is no more to blame for the Holocausts then Darwin's Theory of Evolution.

I don't see the debate ending anytime soon, so I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. At least we can all Dance Like a Monkey.
