ATV's & Kids
Probably the biggest problem South Mississippi law-enforcement officials face is stopping people from riding ATVs on public roads and keeping children off adult-sized vehicles. That was the case several years ago when two 11-year-olds ran a stop sign on a public road in Jackson County, only to be hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle. Both boys died.
11 year olds aren't old enough to get a Learner's Permit to drive a car so I find it upsetting that their parents thought it was OK for them to go tearing down the roads on their ATV. I can only imagine how upsetting the accident was for the driver of the vehicle. And my heart goes out to the parents who lost their children. We need to get ATV's off public roads and we need to get children off adult size ATV's.
A 14-year-old boy who was throwing eggs at cars along with two other teenagers was shot and killed by someone who had been in a sport utility vehicle that was hit, police said.
Talk about road rage. While I don't condone the teens throwing eggs at cars, shooting at them was uncalled for. I hope they throw the book at this nut when they catch him.
