Field Trip

The city's draw as an ecotourism destination just took two big steps forward with the approval of a $1.1 million grant to build a walking trail at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center and a signed contract for regular boat excursions on the Pascagoula River. The circular four-mile walking trail will start at the Audubon Center on Frank Griffin Road, go out to an island in the Pascagoula River and around two ponds. The trail will be on property owned by The Land Trust, Mississippi Department of Transportation and the Department of Marine Resources. Groups of five or more can schedule a boat ride by calling 475-0825. Regular tours are currently offered Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, with a $2 discount given to seniors, military and Audubon members.

I am looking forward to the walking trail, the boat tour is a little pricey but I think it would be educational and fun, so we may try to do it.
