How did it get in our pets' food?

Scientists from Cornell University and a state lab said today they discovered traces of a banned rat poison in cat food - a potentially significant step in the search for what has been killing pets across the country for the past few weeks.

The poison, known as Aminopterin, was discovered in samples given to the labs by Menu Foods, the manufacturer of cat and dog food sold under many different names that is subject to a nationwide recall.

If it was banned, how did it get into our pets' food?
