This makes us so angry Pit Bull Blamed In Girl's Death Likely To Be Euthanized
So they singled out the dog most likely because of it's breed and the media has been full of stories of the "Pit Bull attack" even though no one knows for sure that it was a Pit Bull that attacked the girl. And of course now thanks to the media there is an outcry to BAN Pit Bulls.
He also brought up an incident that occurred in 2008.
While I am sorry a child was killed it was not the dogs fault, the child's parents and the dogs owner should have kept the kids away from the dog, but at least then they had the guilty dog. This time they are just guessing that this dog is responsible, nobody seems to know and the media has rushed to judge the dog guilty based on it's breed. This is irresponsible reporting!

Animal Control officers later captured a dog near the Green Drive home she shared with her grandmother. However, the Hinds County Sheriff's Department still isn't sure if it's the dog that killed Anastasia. When authorities found the pit bull, they said there were five other stray dogs in the area. No one has come forward to claim the dog, officials said. It was being held Monday at the Animal Rescue League in Jackson.

In response to the child’s death, Hinds County Supervisor George Smith said he will propose banning pit bulls from the county. Right now, the county ordinance requires dogs to be on a leash, behind a fence or inside a house. Smith said the law is not being obeyed as it is written, so he wants it to be strengthened to include a ban.
He also brought up an incident that occurred in 2008.
In July 2008, Tony Evans Jr. was killed after he wandered close to a chained pit bull on Tuesday at a home at 112 Maple Ridge Drive in Jackson. The dog was able to reach Evans and bit him in the abdomen. The owners agreed to euthanize the dog.
