Sad Tails, Happy Tails
Today's story begins last week.
We had been seeing flashes of black and white around our farmhouse...
in the garage, under the deck...
quick little flashes of black and white...
I feared a skunk (Hubbs assured me that they are not quick, no need to be.)
Hubbs thought perhaps a feral cat.
Friday night we were awoken by the shrill shriek of a cat....cut short by
what we thought might have been a great horned owl.
Then, sadly, Saturday morning Hubbs found a drowned kitten in our pool.
(sniff, sniff....I hate the thought of this)
(Lucky for you though, this is the end of the sad tail!)
Now for the happy tail:
Yesterday, some children from down the lane
brought us a kitten that they said had followed them home.
They said their Mama told them to get rid of it.
So, they brought it to us....I am assuming it may have actually followed them home
from our farm... as they love to come visit our animals.
Meet Leo (carbon copy of drowned kitty).
Apparently Leo and his sibling were "dropped off" at our farm
by someone who did not want them.
Leo is very social....
it is obvious he was not born feral.
He is a real love sponge and enjoys every bit of attention he can get...
using his big voice to let you know he's not quite finished with
the affection!
Ooooooh, so ferocious!
Leo the Lion!
Actually, his full name is Leonardo (DaVinci, not DiCaprio!)
He has the cutest white tipped paintbrush tail.
He also has the longest whiskers ever,
as well as the longest hair inside his ears.
I believe he will grow up to be a long haired cat.
Oh,
and Leo is here to stay.
Hubbs says it's only right, since his sibling died in our pool,
that we give him a good home forever
in our barn....
much to Ella's chagrin.
Bobby opened his eyes long enough to say..."Whatever..."
And TomTom was unavailable for comment.
So, welcome home, Leo!
Eventually, Dr. Becky will neuter Leo.
The last thing we need is any more kittens.

A Near Drowning
We had a near drowning on Saturday morning. Hubbs was cleaning the pool and found a bat floating face down in our pool. He grabbed the skimmer and scooped that little batout of the water and deposited him on dry land. A few minutes of drying...

Another Sad Tale
It is a good thing that the happy tales way outnumber the sad tales....or this farm life would be unbearable. As a result of too many unhappy guinea tales, I have come to a critical decision.....no more guineas. This past weekend was just too sad. The...
