Two Days and Counting...

Yesterday was a work day unlike any the farm has ever seen.

Every inch of the property was manicured.
No blade of grass went untouched.

The property looks the best it has ever looked.
Even the perennials are cooperating.
Everything is in full bloom.
Spectacular!

Amanda's Tim is spending the week with us, helping to do the heavy work.
We started out the morning moving the heavy whiskey barrels that I wanted to use to make a bar.
He carried them with the tractor...

then rolled them up the hill into the grape arbor.
I had found an old panel door at a local salvage which I had envisioned as the bar-top.

It fit perfectly into the space.

The old panel shutter that I use as my grocery list in the kitchen will serve as a drink menu...

By the time we finished that project, the tent arrived.

The rest of the day was spent laying out the tent.

By the end of the afternoon, it was finished.
It comes complete with string lights and fans.

If the weather is great on Saturday, we will remove the side walls to allow for better
air circulation.

Today we will run some last minute errands.
After that I will spend a little time laying out the dessert wagon (without desserts.)

Our bathroom trailer was delivered as well.
I'll share a few photos of that tomorrow.
I have never seen such a luxurious bathroom on wheels before!

- A Return To Normal
We are in the midst of a high pressure area, and the weather is spectacular. We've entered the dry part of summer and everyone is finally making hay.(Which is a big relief to me as I have so many mouths to feed!) It had been sunny and hot every day...

- Slowing Down, Now Full Speed Ahead!
You may notice that some of today's pictures don't actually go with today's story. That's the way we roll this week. It's a little busy around here....but just for now. We actually did slow down (just a little) this weekend. The normal...

- Quiet Autumn Days
One of my favorite times to sit and unwind is during feeding time. There is such a calm, peaceful feeling in the barn when all is quietbut the sound of chewing. Each morning, after spending a few hours in the pasture, the equines head back to the...

- Of Course There Is A Part Two!
There are certain days in ones life that are truly perfection....those crystal clear, blue-skied, I-don't-ever-want-it-to-end kind of days. You know the ones...that you squeeze every last ounce of life from as the sun slips behind the horizon. I...

- Cat Naps
Ever wonder where the phrase "cat nap" came from? All you would have to do is to watch my barn kittiesand you would know how that phrase came to be! I spent yesterday morning watering. You see, we are going to Chicago for the rest of the week, and I wanted...
