A Tale of Two Ponies

Our tale takes place long, long ago,
in a magical land called Pairie
(and is known today as Perry County, Pennsylvania).

In those days this land was inhabited by
fairies, sprites, gnomes, goblins and trolls.
The land of Pairie was green and lush,
with hill and vale, forest and dale,
mountains, streams, waterfalls.
It was idyllic...perfect.

Well, at least it would have been perfect,
if not for the goblins and trolls
who were known to occasionally create a bit of havoc.

The point of my story,
I am sure you were wondering,
is to tell the tale of the Pairie Bog Pony...
a band of wild ponies (the only ones of their kind)
that came to live in the land of Pairie.

You see, our Scarlet and Donnie are descendants
of the mythical Pairie Bog Ponies.
Scarlet and Donnie are kind and gentle ponies by nature,
who possess magical powers.
I know, because I have witnessed them.
Among these powers is the ability to fly,
(they are the fastest ponies ever...fast as the wind)
to pass thru closed doors,
(they escape every chance they get...as though they walk right thru stall doors)
and to make things disappear.
(never let anything within their reach... I guarantee it will disappear!)

They come by these powers naturally,
for many years ago, their ancestors were actually
a band of fairies....the last group of fairies in Pairie.

Unfortunately, these fairies fell prey to the nasty trolls,
who cast a spell on them and turned them into
ponies,
forever.

From generation to generation, the spell remains unbroken...
that is, except for one hour on one special night of the year...
the first full moon after the vernal equinox
(the first full moon of spring).

For one hour on that particular night,
they are released from their pony bodies,
and transformed into their fairie selves...
free to fly and work their magic spells on the land.

It's very soon after this night that the land begins to change.
The birds begin to sing with wild abandon,
and, new life bursts forth from every crack and crevice.

All because of that one night of magic...
and a band of wild fairie ponies....
led by Lady Scarlet

and her brother Prince Donnie...

- Together At Last!
I have been hesitant to put the "Bigs" and the "Littles"together in the same pasture to graze...fearing for the safety of my tiny horses. That is until the other day, when I took the Bigs to the upper pasture and heard the cries ofthe Littles as...
