What's Up in Alasandra's World ~Manekineko

Apparently everyone I know (even those people I only know through the Internet) have been experiencing the crud, in one form or another. It started in our household with Shining Celebi, preceded to Hubby and then just as Hubby had recovered and was leaving for Japan struck me and Lord Epa.

All we wanted to do was lay in bed. Alas we had doctor's visits and physical therapy to attend. Since we had to drag ourselves to a doctor's visit that morning and physical therapy that afternoon anyway we attended PEAK's Chinese New Year February 19th. I want to give a big THANK YOU to all the ladies that took over the planning for the event once I told them I was sick and needed help. There was some great food there, my favourite dish was the Chinese Tea Eggs, the sweet and sour meatballs I made turned out surprisingly well all things considered. The younger children enjoyed a variety of arts & crafts and us moms enjoyed the chance to visit with one another (Sorry I don't have any pictures my camera was in Japan with Hubby).

February 23rd I finally got some antibiotics for my ear infection, and began to feel much better. Which is a good thing as I had a pie to make for Shining Celebi's birthday Saturday. We also had a soccer game to attend Saturday and Hubby's homecoming to prepare for.

Hubby brought me a Manekineko (Lucky Cat) which invites happiness, it's also raising it's hand so it invites prosperity. Being WELL makes me happy, so we'll see how good a job Lucky Cat does. He also took lots of pictures of the Lantern Festival he attended and the countryside which I will try to post one day. One of the most moving places he visited was the Nagasaki Peace Park, you can take a virtual tour of the museum here.

I am happy to report that we all seem to be feeling much better (although I am still taking medicine that make me feel rather tired) and Lord Epa and I are gradually catching up on his schoolwork by working on weekends and in the evenings. Lord Epa usually cooks and cleans for me when I am sick so it was really awful being sick at the same time especially with hubby away. Shining Celebi stayed busy with work and college so he was unable to help out much, although he did bring home a pizza one night.

One of the biggest challenges was Hubby's inability to sleep at night. He was still on Japanese time for several days after he got home and stayed up all night prowling around the house. I think he has almost got his sleep cycle back in tune with the rest of us.
