Staph issue in Jackson County Schools
Several parents are planning to gather tonight to discuss ongoing problems with staph infection in the area.
"We are calling on our community to come together," said Sheila Quave, a Vancleave parent who has a child in the Jackson County School District. "We want to be able to educate ourselves and the community" about staph and its causes.
An 11-year-old girl at Vancleave Middle School died Oct. 12 from what is believed to be antibiotic-resistant staph infection.Jackson County School District officials say parents should not worry about their children's health, despite rumors that a Vancleave Middle School student may have died of a staph infection.
