Visitors From Down Under

There was excitement in the air yesterday morning as I tended to chores.
(There was also a chill in the air...it was about 20 degrees!)

We were scheduled to have some special visitors from Australia,
and all of the horses were anticipating an extra dose of attention.

"Are they here yet?"
asked Moonbeam from the stall where he had been enjoying his breakfast.

Animals are really great at "photobombing".

"How do I look?" asked Ollie.

"You all look great."  I replied,  "They should be here any minute."

And sure enough it wasn't long until our friend Nancy arrived
with her son Sven and granddaughter Neila.

Neila, who was three, was eager to meet the horses...
and maybe take a little ride.

Donnie Brascoe volunteered for pony rides.

Neila was smitten.

We spent a little time with Daphne and Chloe...

who are always happy to entertain.

The pigs were a little intimidating for Neila,

but she soon warmed up to them.

They, of course, were in heaven having guests.

And didn't miss an opportunity to ask for belly rubbing!

We walked up to the pastures to visit with the goats.

Sadly, we were out of Ritz crackers...so no treats this time.

Viewing turkeys was fine from the safety of Daddy's arms.

Our tour ended back at the barn,
with an extra special one on one goodbye from Red.

Our animals always enjoy visitors...
as much, I think, as visitors enjoy them!

- Breaking And Entering
Monday morning, as I tended to morning chores, I walked down through the dry lotto the pigs' stall and found that the uppermost board across their door had been knocked down during the night. Any guesses who the perpetrator was? You got it....Moonbeam.I...

- Haircut, Anyone?
With the planting finished,I finally had time to tackle a few more items on my Spring chore list. Yesterday was "haircut" day. With the arrival of warmer weather, clipping the Littles and the donkeys is imperative. These four equines seem to hold on to...

- Tiny Visitors
Yesterday was a special day on the farm.We had a group of pre-school visitors who came for a tour. There is just nothing cuter than children and animals.I think I had as much fun watching them as they had visiting our critters. They were quite enamored...

- A Day Off?
Yesterday was another glorious 60 degree day...one that made me long for gardening. Having the day off from farm chores,(thanks Jim!)gave me the opportunity to get caught up with a few routine maintenance items... like trimming hooves (on all 5 equines)....

- Berry Good For Everyone!
What are the Dwarf Nigerians so interested in? Perhaps it is the fact that there are some visitors in their yard....some really BIG visitors! If you have read this blog for a while you may remember me talking about goats and parasites.  Basically,...
