Homeschooling is a Fundamental Right of Parents

The decision of how and where a child should be educated is a fundamental right of parents —
First Wapakoneta Superintendent Keith Horner says.

“I’m not against school choice at all".
then he goes on to point out all the problems homeschoolers create for public school officials. Next we hear from Baker

Aside from academics, there are many skills learned through a traditional education that go beyond the curriculum, district officials say. “Dealing with bullies, making friends, and learning to be held accountable — those are all abilities students develop by interacting with their peers at school,” Baker said. “It’s being able to cope in the real world.”

I wonder where Baker, got his idiotic idea that homeschoolers don't learn to deal with bullies (I guess homeschoolers never play with public school students after school, and Baker has apparently never heard of the neighborhood bully.), that homeschoolers don't have any friends ( I wonder who my kids spend all their time IM and talking to on the phone, I could have sworn it was their friends, but according to Baker homeschoolers don't have friends.), and that homeschoolers parents never hold them accountable (what BS). And of course the same idiotic statement we heard on Dr. Phil that homeschoolers won't be able to cope in the "real" world. Excuse me but homeschoolers live in the real world just like everyone else. Our children are perfectly capable of coping with LIFE!

For those of you who think we need a constitutional amendment to protect our homeschooling rights check out the post at HE&OS by Daryl Cobranchi entitled I WAS WRONG
Evidently, there is no requirement that editorial writers cannot be brain dead. As evidence, I submit this WND piece on why we need a constitutional amendment for homeschooling rights.

- The Truth About Homeschoolers

- Aelfric Worries About Socialization Of Homeschoolers
Aelfric says I am all for the right of a parent to home-school his or her child, but it's a choice to be carefully undertaken. Few parents can bring the intellectual diversity and educational acumen to bear that the panoply of school teachers could...

- Why Homeschooling Works ~ No Or Little Bureaucracy
Homeschool Parents/Teachers are able to pick out the curriculum and textbooks that best suits their children/students. Unlike the public school system where the teacher may have very little input into what textbooks will be used in their classroom. This...

- Kestrel9000 Attacks Homeschooling At Daily Kos
First off I am going to take umbrage at the title of the post, Revisionist History: The Christian Right and the Miseducation Of Our Children. Shining Celebi and Lord Epa are mine and The Big Kahuna's kids they do not belong to anyone else. The idea...

- From The Blogosphere
Let's be clear public school at home isn't the same as homeschooling. If people choose to do public school at home that's fine and dandy, but they are not homeschoolers. I can only wonder if Bounds desire to scrutinize homeschoolers is due...
